The black frame originates from a technique called Through the Viewfinder which involves taking photos using a digital camera and pointing it through the viewfinder of a twin-lens reflex camera. The imperfections of the camera's viewfinder, like dust, smudges and scratches show up to become aesthetic elements, resulting in a nostalgic,  vintage or dreamlike quality to this series.
